When it comes to saving money on groceries the first store that comes to mind is Aldi. I recommend if you are gluten intolerant or not make Aldi’s your first stop.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to live gluten free. You just have to be smarter about how, where and when you purchase your food. I’m giving them a shout out because as a company they’ve decided they would create their own brand of gluten free products that’s unique to them. The most amazing part is the products are amazingly affordable.  “LiveGFree” is the name of the product line. They have pastas, breads, macaroni and cheese packets, pretzels, breakfast bars, and crackers all at an extremely reasonable prices. In addition to that a lot of their products are clearly labeled if they contain gluten or not.

As a company they have recently announced, well within the last few years that they are going to be more conscientious and will be removing synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils. This is no small undertaking and I give them props for doing the right thing. They are also taking steps to remove MSG from all of their exclusive brand food products. https://blog.aldi.us/aldi-exclusive-products-food-you-can-feel-good-about/download Despicable Me 3 movie

I’ve also noticed more organic options in their produce area.  Now you might ask what does this have to do with gluten free stuff, well more healthy options are health options for everyone.

If you are new to Aldi there are a few important things to keep in mind when you plan your first trip. Don’t forget your quarter. In order to save you money Aldi request shoppers return their carts.  They do this by requiring customers to insert a quarter into their cart. Once the quarter is inserted the cart is released from the others and when you’ve finished shopping you return the cart to get your quarter back. Also don’t forget to bring your own bags. Yes peeps, they don’t bag your stuff. Long story short I go there to save money and OMG can you save money by shopping there. Of course they don’t have the selection of a major grocery chain but that’s what helps keep the costs low. You’re sure to see more money in your pocket by starting your grocery shopping there first and then pick up the other items from other stores.
